HMC-BRAUER - THE EARLY YEARS
HMC-BRAUER Ltd came into being in 1975 by the merger of two companies already well known in the market place for their very different products.
HMC Wheels Ltd commenced production of plain rubber wheels back in 1926 with much of it's product being exported to India for the jute and tea
industries. Over the years it developed its range of industrial wheels and castors from it's premises in Hornsey, North London, and became one
of the market leaders in the country for the supply of heavy duty wheels and castors. It moved to new purpose built premises in Bletchley,
Buckinghamshire, in 1970/71, which was destined to become part of the new city of Milton Keynes.
F.W.Brauer Ltd. was founded in 1946. The company designed and manufactured toggle clamps from their factory in Harpenden Hertfordshire;
The T.C range was one of the first designs and it was these that were introduced to the aircraft and motor industries.
The company manufactured many other components as diverse as, parts for the De Havilland's Comet, tie racks, ´Jerrycan´ filling machines,
fishing reels, lanterns, screw jacks as well as over 100 different models of clamps.
In 1975 a merger between the two companies took place; an expansion of the Bletchley premises was finished early 1976 and the complete
integration of the two companies soon followed.
Today HMC-Brauer design and manufacture wheels and castor units with carrying capacities exceeding 150 tonnne. Our vast range of manual
and pneumatic clamps are distributed worldwide.
