A legacy of excellence since 1926

Brauer’s story begins in 1926, when HMC Wheels Ltd first started manufacturing plain rubber wheels in North London. Much of this early production was exported to India, supplying the jute and tea industries. A testament to the company’s global outlook from the very start.

As demand grew, HMC expanded its expertise to develop heavy-duty industrial wheels and castors, quickly becoming one of the UK’s leading manufacturers in the field. In the 1970s, the business was acquired by the Cope Allman Group and merged with F.W. Brauer Ltd, a pioneering British engineering company founded in 1946.

F.W. Brauer created the world-famous Orange Grip™ toggle clamp, one of the first patented toggle clamp designs ever introduced to the aerospace and automotive industries. This merger brought together two legacies of British engineering innovation under one name: Brauer.

Since then, the company has remained true to its roots 100% British-owned and operated. Manufacturing every Brauer product from its 33,000 sq ft factory in Bletchley, Milton Keynes, part of a city built on British industrial ambition.

From our factory in Milton Keynes, we design and manufacture the full Brauer product range in-house — ensuring consistent quality at every stage.

Heavy‑duty industrial wheels and castors — including our Heavithane® polyurethane range, available off‑the‑shelf or custom‑engineered for specific loads and applications, with capacities exceeding 150 tonnes.

Manual and pneumatic toggle clamps — featuring our signature Orange Grips™, designed to deliver reliable performance in demanding industrial environments.

Air amplifiers and precision machine components — developed through close partnership with leading engineers and end users to meet exacting operational requirements.

With reference to the implementation of the European chemicals regulation REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals), Brauer Limited has the following statement. Read More

Under the REACH legislation substances on their own, in preparations, or substances intentionally released from articles, and that are manufactured or imported into the European Union in quantities above 1 tonne per year per manufacturer/ importer must be registered.

Brauer Limited does not manufacture or distribute and/or import substances on their own or in preparations.

Brauer products are defined by REACH as Articles without the intent to release into the environment under normal use and disposal as outlined in the European Chemical Agency’s ‘Guidance on requirements for substances in articles’ and therefore we have no registration obligation under the REACH legislation requirements.

RoHS Statement

With reference to directive 2002/95/EC (RoHS), Brauer does not believe this directive to be applicable to our products. We conclude this based on the following: Read More

  1. Our products do not derive their function from electricity.
  2. Our products are components.
  3. Our products are not intended for use in products falling under the scope of the directive.

Accordingly we make the following statement;

Our products supplied to you do not fall under the scope of Directive 2002/95/EC (“RoHS”). They also will not be incorporated, according to our knowledge, into products falling under the scope of this directive.

Our products are intended to be part of “large-scale stationary industrial tools” or “fixed installations”.

According to Directive 2002/95/EC, published on 13 February 2003 and the European Commission’s “Frequently Asked Questions” paper of 24 May 2005 (lastly updated February 2006), ” large-scale stationary industrial tools” and “fixed installations” are explicitly outside the scope of the RoHS (and WEEE) Directive and are therefore not subject to the material restrictions specified in the RoHS Directive.

For the purposes of our trading relationship we hold the following information

  • Company name, address and telephone/fax numbers
  • Employee name and email address (only when given to us)
  • Bank details (in some cases)
